Brief Story Write up |
When it comes to conflict related sexual violence (CRSV), trauma is the biggest threat that comes to mind. Like wise with all our 150 survivors of CRSV from all the three locations (Yambio, Bor and Bentiu), trauma was one of the challenges they were experiencing. Besides other possible solutions to helping survivors recover from trauma, Psychosocial support through counseling has become the best method for helping survivors recover from. In order to help the 150 survivors recover from the trauma, one of the project activities was group and individual counseling. Through group counseling survivors are able to present their testimonies a method which allows them to offload the pain they have been carrying inside hence preparing the path for recovery. However, during individual counseling, the survivors are able to mention specifics and bring out more deep pains which also allows them to start recovering process. During the counseling sessions, the counselors interact with the survivors and in the process embedde the aspect of forgiveness, and reconciliation. This allows creation of room for peace to prevail first within the individual survivors them selves and then out to the rest of the community. |
