Brief Story Write up

This year as our partnership with Manos Unidas continues to grow, we are have directed our attention to education in emergency in order to support returnees and displaced children under a project entitled; Supporting Education in Emergency for Returnees and Displaced children. 

This time round the project will be implemented in three counties namely; Tambura, Ibba and Maridi and it will involve activities such as construction of Temporary Learning shelters(TLSs), Distribution of School materials, Training of teachers, Inter School debate and football competitions with a theme that looks at  promoting a peaceful co-existence.

The project Launch was conducted at Our Lady of Fatima Nursery and Primary school which one of the project beneficiaries in Maridi County and in attendance were the other three schools namely; Town Primary school, Haddow Primary school and St. Lucy Primary school-Mambe.

Officiated by the Deputy Executive director of Maridi County, in company of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) representative, a representative from the county education department, not forgetting the teachers and other stakeholders and on that day he launched the construction of two Temporary learning shelters.

Objectives of the Activity

  1. To improve learning environment for the pupils and teachers
  2. To stimulate the increase in enrollment of pupils especially returnees and displaced children
  3. To create and opportunity for the returnees and displaced children to attain education
  4. To give the young generation a chance for a brighter future

Expected Results

 

  1. Increased enrollment of returnees and displaced pupils
  2. Improved academic performance of pupils
  3. To foster peaceful co-existence between the children from different ethinicities
  4. Improvement of the learning environment
  5. Transformation of the communities mind-set in regards to development and peaceful co-existence
